Why convert a PDF to PNG?

PNG is a lossless image format, so text edges, thin lines and flat colours stay crisp, without the fuzzy blocks JPG can add. That makes PDF to PNG the best choice for slides, charts, diagrams, sheet music and screenshots of documents. Photos and scans make much larger PNG files, so for those use PDF to JPG.

How to use the PDF to PNG

  1. Choose a PDF.
  2. Check that PNG is selected, then pick the quality (DPI) and the pages.
  3. Click Convert and download the PNG (or a ZIP for several pages).

Questions

Why choose PNG instead of JPG?

PNG is lossless, so letters, lines and diagrams stay perfectly sharp. JPG makes smaller files and is better for pages that are mostly photos.

What DPI should I use for PDF to PNG?

150 DPI is right for screens, documents and slides. Use 300 DPI for printing or when small text must stay readable when zoomed in.

Can I convert only one page?

Yes. Type the page numbers you want, for example 3 or 2-4. Leave it empty to convert every page.

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. Pages are rendered in your browser and never sent to a server.

Is PDF to PNG free?

Yes. There is no sign-up, no watermark and no page limit beyond your device memory.

Tips for sharp PNG images

  • Use 150 DPI as your default. It is sharp on most screens and keeps file sizes reasonable. Move to 300 DPI only for printing, posters or zooming into small print.
  • Convert only what you need. If you only need a chart from page 7, type 7 instead of converting a 60-page report.
  • Crop after converting. To share just one table or figure, convert the page, then cut out the part you need with Crop image.
  • Need the original pictures, not the page? Extract PDF images saves the photos stored in the PDF at their original quality.

Common mistakes

  • Choosing PNG for photo-heavy pages. A full-page photo at 300 DPI as PNG can be 10 MB or more. For brochures and photo pages, PDF to JPG gives much smaller files that look the same.
  • Using 72 DPI for anything with text. Small text becomes hard to read. Use at least 150 DPI.
  • Expecting editable text. A PNG is a picture of the page. To copy the words, use PDF to text.

Examples

Slides for a presentation: convert a diagram page from a PDF report to PNG at 150 DPI and paste it into PowerPoint or Google Slides. It stays crisp on a projector.

Documentation and help articles: turn a page of a PDF manual into a PNG to use in a website article or support ticket.

Design work: convert a logo or a page of a brand guide at 300 DPI to use as a reference in an image editor.
